I made these 1 1/2 years ago because they just looked so good in Dorie's book. This week Marthe chose them as her pick for Tuesday's with Dorie. You can find the recipe on Marthe's blog- Culinary Delights or from this post when I made them quite a while ago.
When I made them, I smashed the meringue because I didn't invert them gently enough, so I wanted to give them another try - but didn't get to it. I did have to bake them for about 15 minutes longer then called for in the recipe to make sure they were done in the middle.
I remember these being very yummy. Probably because they were more cake-y than a traditional brownie.
Go see what the other TWD-er's thought by checking out which baker's participated this week!

I didn't add fruit, but white chips and macadamia nuts.
mmm yours look delicious! :)
Smashed meringue or not, I'd eat your brownies!
It was on tasty recipe. I omitted the meringue and added an orange buttercream glaze, yummy!
even smashed it looks great!
mine morphed into Salty/Sweet Brown Butter Frosted Brownies!
These look even better with a thin meringue! I thought that was the most strange part of this recipe, but great fun to make! Glad you were able to do a test drive earlier -
The longer baking-time seems to have been a general problem. Mine where even almost one hour in the oven (but then all chewiness was away)
Your brownies look beautiful! I love the whole raspberry on the side.
your look good! i loved this recipe. my meringue was a bit smashed.
Lovely photo! I will definitely be making these again.
Great pic! They look delicious even smashed.
Yours look soooo good, even if the meringue was somewhat smashed!! Thanks for baking with me!
Looks pretty good to me. I skipped the meringue, but it looks very nice on yours. Still, these were just okay for us.
Great pic Mary Ann! Your brownie looks fabulous :) I changed this recipe up quite a bit and while it was tasty, it wasn't what I was expecting and probably not a repeat.
The meringue might be smashed, but I can't tell it. They look wonderful. Thanks for the heads up on the TWD blog.
It's not so smshed ! Ciao !
yum, they look great! I left off the meringue and really enjoyed these!!
Your brownies look great. My brownies came out so far from cakey! I got the gooey ones!
Yours look wonderful. Mine just did not get done in the middle, they were soggy and fell apart transferring from pan to plate. The meringue sort of caved in. But, you know...the teen boys and their friends ate them anyway...with a spoon and declared them "good enough." May try them again as I really like all the ingredients.
looks like they were tasty! i thought they weere a lot more like a little cake, too.
