TWD-Oreo/White Chocolate Cheesecake Brownies

Looking for beautifully swirled cheesecake brownies? You won't find them here.
Looking for pretty pictures? also missing today.
Looking for a rave review? Check out the TWD Blogroll- I know multiple people enjoyed this much, much more than I did.
Melissa of Life in a Peanut Shell chose Espresso Cheesecake Brownies for today's TWD recipe.

I don't do espresso or coffee of any kind for that matter. I was going to skip this week because of that factor and also because brownies are one of my least favorite desserts. But, somehow I decided to give this a go.

At first I was thinking that I would swirl some raspberry puree and add fresh raspberries to the cheesecake layer. But I saw that Nancy (I think I have linked to her blog everyday now for about a week!- check her out) suggested adding chopped up oreos to the cheesecake and in a moment of weakness last week when my kids were begging for goodies at the checkout of the grocery store, I let them each get a plastic container of mini oreos. I, of course realized that there were 4 servings in one little plastic container, so I let them each have 9 mini oreos and then they had to hand over the leftover mini oreos to me (not to eat, just to get them away from little hands!). I put them in the pantry and they were forgotten about. I decided to chop them up and add them to the cheesecake.

I made two 8x8 pans of this recipe, which means I doubled both parts. I added mini chocolate chips to the brownie part because Nancy said it needed something. I also added 2 oz of melted white chocolate to one of the pans- in the cheesecake layer. I skipped the sour cream topping.

Luckily I took both pans of these to a potluck, where they were completely devoured and they received rave reviews from multiple people and a few requests for the recipe.

I tasted a bite and didn't like them at all. Same with my hubby. I took another bite and so did he, just to make sure and yes, it was confirmed- I didn't care for this dessert. I don't know what it was about it, I just didn't like it. But lots of people did, so I know that the recipe is good, just not good for me. If you want to try them to see what you think, go to Melissa's blog for the recipe or buy Baking:from my home to yours!

4 servings in the little tub?! Don't destroy my world. Hee hee.

These look great. Sorry they weren't your favorite. Mine just got out of the oven.

Sorry you didn't like these. They weren't my favorite either. The Oreo chunks sound yummy.

Not my fave either, but with the Oreos I might be convinced to give them another shot :)

Your brownies look fantastic. Love the oreos!

Yes - I wasn't a fan of these either. And that seems to be the recurring theme around TWD-land today!

These are really getting lots of mixed reviews. Oh well, I guess that's what makes the world interesting! I LOVE what you did with these. Next time, I'll try the oreo/white chocolate cheesecake so my kids can eat them (because I'll suffer through my kids' sugar highs, but I draw the line at sugar and caffeine highs!) Sorry these weren't a hit for you, but it sounds like you made a lot of potluck guests happy!

Brownies are your least favorite dessert!? Oh no.

Too bad these weren't a hit. I like your changes though.

Well, Oreos were definitely a good addition. And I'm impressed that they were forgotten about...Oreos seem to haunt me every now and then. I liked them okay, but they weren't a favorite. My gym fans loved them, though!

Sorry that your additions to the recipe didn't make you like it any more than I did! I guess Dorie's allowed a blah recipe every now and then, right? I think we're just spoiled by the general amazing quality week after week. Folks we served them to seemed to like them, which is a relief.

Awww, I'm sorry you didn't like them - the oreos sound so good in them though!

My hubby is Lithuanian (he came over for college) and I'm slowly trying to learn the language for when we eventually visit!

I love the oreo layer -- how fun. I think that you did a great job working around the espresso, and I love how white and creamy your cheesecake layer looks without the coffee in there.

Oh, thank you for this post - I feel less guilty. You see, we didn't like them, either, and I like coffee and chocolate, but for some reason, this just didn't come together.

Well, sometimes no matter what you try, you just have to raise the white flag and surrender. These may be one of those things. I will say that I think they look like they would be a hit around here.

I agree with you, not my favorite. The brownie part was missing something, it was too dry for me. Regardless, yours looks fabulous!

Oh, I hate that you & your hubby didn't like these. I think the Oreo/white chocolate idea sounds fabulous. Looking forward to next week's chocolate souffle!

Adding the oreos was a great idea for those who aren't into espresso! I love the bottom photo! It sort of makes me want to try these again with oreos but I'd have to find a different brownie base as that was my least favorite part of this dessert. Sorry you guys didn't like these.
