TWD- Rugelach

Happy Election Day! If you have voted, good for you, if not, get out there and let your voice be heard! Now onto our cookie.....
Grace of Piggy's Cooking Journal chose this week's Tuesday's with Dorie recipe-Rugelach, so if you want the recipe, go to her blog or BUY THE BEST BAKING BOOK OUT THERE! Sorry for that little outburst.
These cookies were fairly simple. I threw the dough together (3 ingredients) and let it sit in the fridge overnight. Next time I will be sure to make perfectly round disks :)
The I rolled it out the next day. I didn't have to let it sit or hit it will the rolling pin like Dorie said. It wasn't super easy to roll, but it worked. My circle wasn't perfectly round but I was still able to get pretty nice cresent shaped cookies.
I used peach preserves, mini chocolate chips and pecans. The biggest problem was trying to get a picture with natural light. Now that it gets dark earlier, I was in a pinch. Plus it was a cloudy day. So I took them out and put them on the rail. I don't like winter!
These were tasty- we split a couple and gave the rest away. Go see what everyone else came up with by visiting the Tuesdays with Dorie Blogroll.

Come back tomorrow for Banana Cupcakes with Macadamia Nut Struesel and Banana Pancakes with Pomegranate Syrup!

These look good. I am having the same problems with light. I sometimes take my food outside to photograph it there. I guess i better cook real early:)

Weren't these great? If you figure out how to make perfectly round disks, let me know. I'm finding out that I am circle-challenged when I bake. I can roll a mean rhombus, though. Yours look gorgeous, even if the light wasn't optimal! Glad that you enjoyed!

Yours look great! Mine wasn't perfectly circular either, but at least they're good regardless of they're shape!

Those look yummy Mary Ann- great job! (and great self control giving the rest away! the best I did in that dept was to only make a half batch!)

Beautiful.

Mine didn't get rolled out in a very nice circle either.

Gotta love the ole deck rail. I use it for all my photos, too. Except dinner ones, which are always in available light indoors, and therefore pretty weak. Anyway, LOVE your peach variation; like a taste of Georgia!

Yum! They look great! I'm a fellow TWD baker, and I was thinking that it would be nice if we all could chip in and get Laurie some small token/gift for all the work she does. Would you be willing to contribute? If I can get enough people, it would only be about $1 per person. No pressure :-) Let me know! bethberg12@yahoo.com

I'm having a hard time with the whole natural light situation, too! Good to know I'm not the only one.

They look wonderful. I'm really bad at rolling my dough into a perfect circle, but my cookies still taste good!! The cupcakes you have coming up sound DEE-licious.
